A hurricane season checklist for the outside of your home
Clear gutters, check downspouts and wash salt off glass before June. A short list for coastal homeowners.
Before June 1
- Clean gutters and flush downspouts so heavy rain drains away from the foundation
- Check that downspout extensions point away from the house
- Wash salt film off windows and impact glass
- Trim branches that hang over the roof
After a storm
Look for gutters pulling away from the fascia and for debris in roof valleys. Call your local office for a post storm cleaning if water overflowed during the storm.
